Amnesty Program Extension

Those who have been hiding assets in foreign accounts should be aware of the amnesty program extension that was recently passed by the IRS. The original deadline for reporting this income to the IRS was October 15 – this has been expanded due to a large number of applications for the program. (more…)

Many people are under the impression that the IRS does not care about offshore accounts. Of course, the recent UBS settlement may have changed your mind on this just a tad. But even then, there are some who believe that international tax issues are often times overlooked. While this was never really the case, it really isn’t going to be true in the future. The IRS is currently creating an international tax unit to be responsible for all international tax issues including the biggest problem: using offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes. (more…)
