Free Tax Help is Available for some

image-6-21109.jpgBelieve it or not, you may qualify for free tax help. This is hard for many people to believe, but it is the absolute truth. Of course, you need to know where this free help is coming from and if you qualify. Once you have this information you can decide if you can move forward with free tax help, or if you will need to take care of the filing process on your own. At the very least you should look into whether or not you can get free tax help.

There are many nonprofit organizations all over the country that provide free assistance. For instance, people earning $42k per year or less qualify for free tax help from the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, also known as VITA.

How old are you? If you are over the age of 60 you can get all the free tax help you need from Tax Counseling for the Elderly, or TCE. The same holds true if you were in the military. Armed Forces Tax Council offers free tax assistance to military personnel.

As you can see, not everybody will qualify for free tax help. But there is a good chance that you will based on your income, age, or military standing. It costs a lot of money to hire a tax professional so you might as well take advantage of free help if you qualify.

Before you begin to file your return this year be sure to check into one of the many free tax assistance programs that are offered by a variety of organizations. You may be surprised to find out that you qualify.
