One of the most famous parts of the annual Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting every year is the question and answer session hosted by top guys at the company — including Warren Buffett. Question and answer sessions at the last two Berkshire Hathaway meetings have been addressed in the book Pilgrimage to Warren Buffett’s Omaha: A Hedge Fund Manager’s Dispatches from Inside the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting. This go, Jeff Matthews, the author of the book, offered to ask a question on behalf of his readers. ting.There are a number of interesting questions, including some that are a little angry, considering the recent stock market crash. Buffett has always pointed out that he doesn’t know what the future brings, and he has tried (unsuccessfully) to counter the media’s image of him as the “oracle of Omaha.” At any rate, there are many interesting questions. Even more interesting will be to see which questions are the most popular amongst the rest of us.
Warren Buffett still provides sound investing strategy
Everyone is losing right now, and just because we’re in a downcycle doesn’t mean that Warren Buffett’s buy and hold strategy is done for. Indeed, the fact that you can good, solid, fundamentally strong companies on the cheap right now is probably an argument for buy and hold. Everyone is scared, so — as Buffett would say — it’s time to get greedy. Buffett’s “boring” approach has stood him well, and it has helped many. In fact, the strategy has helped my retirement account hold up better than many of my friends’ accounts. Sure I’ve seen losses. But they haven’t been as bad as they could be.
