When to Cash in your Reward Points

image-2-11409.jpgDo you have a credit card that earns reward points with each purchase you make? If so, you know that these can buildup in a hurry. Of course, this does you no good unless you eventually make a decision on when to cash them in. The last thing you want to do is forget about your reward points and let them go to waste.

When you cash in your reward points is up to you. Some people do this as soon as they get enough for a “prize.” Others like to wait until they have enough points for something they really want. For instance, 5,000 points may get you a small gift card for a restaurant. But 50,000 points could be enough for a couple free nights at a great hotel. Do you have the willpower to hold onto your reward points until you have enough for something real good?

It is important to know if your reward program has any restrictions attached to it. For instance, do you have to use your points within a certain period of time? If so, make sure you don’t forget about this. If you do, you will lose your points without ever giving yourself a fair chance to use them.

What can I get for my reward points? Your credit card company should be able to supply you with a catalog and/or website that shows everything you can get and how many points it will cost.

So, when are you going to cash in your reward points? Make sure you are smart about this so you end up with something you really love.

How to Increase your Credit Card Reward Points

image-14-102809.jpgAre you looking for a way to increase the number of credit card reward points in your account? Is this something that you put a lot of time and effort into doing? If you answered yes to these questions there are a few things you can do to get started.

First things first, use your credit card more often – this is the best way to increase your points. Since you receive points with each dollar you spend, all you have to do is use your credit card more often. Of course, this does not mean that you should begin to spend recklessly just to earn more points.

Does your credit card company offer more points on certain purchases? For instance, some companies will give three points per dollar spent on qualified purchases at gas stations, restaurants, and other like establishments. If this is the case, you definitely want to use your credit card when extra points are available. This will go a long way in increasing the number of points in your account.

What is the point? The more credit card reward points you have the more you can buy with them. To know how far your points can go ask your credit card company for a brochure or website that explains how many you need for certain items.

Now that you know a couple of ways to increase your credit card reward points you should get started. Soon enough you will realize that your points balance is on the rise. From there, you have a better chance of getting exactly what you want from them.

Why do you need a Credit Card with Rewards?

image-6-101409.jpgAre you thinking about applying for a credit card with a rewards program? If so, you probably have a good reason for wanting to do this. Before we go any further, remember this: you do not need a credit card with rewards. It may be something you are looking for, but there are many cards out there that do not offer this.

The number one reason to apply for a credit card with rewards is that you get something in return for the money you spend. For instance, some cards give you one point for every dollar you spend. After you reach a certain level, such as 7,500 points, you can begin to cash them in for everything from home goods to travel and much more. Some people like to know that they are at least getting points when they use their card – this makes spending easier on them.

Some reward credit cards still offer everything else you could be looking for. You don’t want to choose a rewards card just for the points but forget about all the other important details. Instead, keep things such as your limit and APR in mind. After all, your rewards will not do much for you if you are stuck with an APR of 20 percent or more.

All in all, you do not need a credit card with rewards. You may want one of these cards, but it is far from something that you need to have. Before you make a final decision, compare rewards cards against others to see what will work best for you.
