Lost your Credit Card? Don’t wait to Take Action
Did you lose your credit card? If so, this is something to worry about. There is no reason to sit back and hope that your problem gets solved – this will not happen on its own. Instead, you need to take the proper steps to ensure that your financial integrity is not compromised.
Before all else, call your credit card company to cancel your card. This may put you in a bind, but remember this: your company can mail out a new card with new numbers in no time at all. You may have to go a couple of days without your credit card, but this is a very small price to pay.
Now that you reported your card stolen you can begin to think about where it went. Was your card really stolen? Or did you just lose it around the house? Once you cancel your credit card it does not matter if you find it – it is not active, anyway. That being said, you probably want to know what happened for a number of reasons. For instance, if it was stolen you may be worried about this happening again. Not to mention the fact that the thief may have made off with other important information such as your social security number.
It goes without saying that you never want to lose your credit card. If this happens, and it may in the future, make sure you take immediate action. The quicker you act the better chance you have of avoiding all problems that could possibly go along with this.
