When to Ditch one Credit Card for another
Carrying a credit card comes with big responsibility. To go along with this you need to be knowledgeable. There may come a time when you need to ditch your current credit card for another. You have to know when this is a good idea, and how to move forward in doing so.
What is wrong with your current credit card? You need to answer this question before you do anything else. If you cannot find something wrong there is no good reason to swap it out for a new card – this is just a waste of time in most cases. Of course, you may find one or more details that are out of place. This can be anything from too low of a limit to too high of an APR.
When you get rid of one credit card you want to replace it with another. This will help to minimize the negative effect on your credit score. Make sure that the new card is better than the old one. For example, if you want a lower APR you should get a lower APR. There is no point in swapping out one bad card for another.
Getting rid of a credit card is nothing to take lightly. If you are going to do this you need to be very serious about the situation. Not only can bad decisions affect your current financial standing, but they can drag down your credit score at the same time.
What do you think? Are you going to keep your current credit card? Don’t feel obligated to do so. If you have a good reason there is nothing wrong with ditching one credit card for another.
