College is Starting, College Credit Cards are in Season
With August closing in, students are heading back to college for another year. This also means that college credit card season is once again in play. Students will be thinking about applying for their own card, or begging their parents to let this happen. There is nothing wrong with a college credit card, but this must be thought about before moving forward. Applying for and using a college credit card with reckless abandon will more than likely end in some form of disaster.
What is it that makes college credit cards so appealing? Students love these because it means they have money at their fingertips. You know how college kids are. They like to spend money on everything from food to clothes to concert tickets and much more (even books). With the right college credit card they don’t have any issue getting what they want. Of course, the problem comes into play when the statement arrives in the mail.
Are all college credit cards bad? None of them are bad. What is bad are the students who use them in an irresponsible manner. As a parent you need to be 100 percent sure that your child is responsible enough to carry a credit card. And even then, you don’t really have full control. At anytime your child can apply for their own plastic; there is not much you can do.
It is college credit card season, and students are ready to spend a lot of money as soon as they arrive on campus. No matter if you are a student or parent of one be careful of how you view college credit cards. This is not something to take lightly.
