Three Signs that it is Time to get a New Credit Card

image-14-72409.jpgAre you thinking about getting a new credit card? Before you get ahead of yourself you need to make sure that this is really the right move. There is nothing wrong with applying for a new credit card if you definitely need one. But if you don’t, you may want to stay put for the time being. After all, collecting credit cards is not a good idea.

Here are three signs that it is time to get a new credit card:

1. You don’t have one yet! This may be the best reason to do this. If you don’t have a credit card and need one it may be time for you to take the plunge. There are many benefits of carrying a credit card, and if you are responsible enough you should move forward with the application process.

2. Your current credit cards don’t give you the benefits you are looking for. You may be paying too much interest, or maybe your rewards program has gone sour over the years. No matter the reason, if you don’t enjoy your current credit card you may need to look for a replacement.

3. You need more credit. You have to be very careful with this “sign.” It is easy to say that you need more credit, but adding another card increases your chance for making a financial mistake. Don’t add more credit unless you are confident in your ability to stay responsible.

What do you think? Is it time for you to get a new credit card? If one or more of the signs above are present in your life, it may be time to start your search.
