The Names on your Credit Card Account
When you apply for a credit card you have the right to add at least one other person to the account. In other words, you can be the primary card holder but also add a spouse so that he or she can have access to the credit as well. Is this is a good idea? Is it something you have thought about doing but are unsure?
There is nothing wrong with adding another person to your credit card account. But remember this: you need to be extremely careful of what you are doing. Adding a spouse is usually fine. But adding somebody, such as a new girlfriend or boyfriend, could be a huge mistake. Simply put, you only want to add a person who you can trust 100 percent. If you make a mistake, you may find your credit card balance through the roof before you know what hit you.
Many people add a child to their credit card account. They do this for a couple of reasons, with the main one being that it helps them to build good credit. Again, there is nothing wrong with this as long as you can trust your child to use the credit card only as you have given them permission to do so.
If you want to add another to your account, and get them their own card, call your credit card company today. They will be able to help you with this right away. Soon enough somebody else will have access to your line of credit. Do you feel comfortable with this situation?
