Credit Card Debt: Eliminate it by paying more than the Minimum

image-7-111208.jpgAre you fed up with your credit card debt? Are you tired of this being a drain on your finances? There is nothing wrong with carrying some credit card debt, but you should know that this can cause other problems. In order to get out of debt sooner instead of later, you may want to consider paying more than the minimum.

Your credit card company only wants you to pay the minimum. Do you know why? When you do this it means that you will pay more in interest. In turn, the credit card company makes more money. Are you willing to pay more than you have to? Your answer should be no.

How much more should I pay? This is a difficult question to answer. The best thing to do is pay as much as you can so that you can pay down your debt as quickly as possibly. For instance, if your minimum payment is $100 but you can send in $200, you will quickly see that your debt is being reduced quickly. There is no other way to say it: the more money you pay on each bill the quicker your debt will disappear.

It is unfortunate that so many people think that paying the minimum is the right thing to do. This may mean that you have more money to spend on other expenses, but it also means that your debt will stick around for much longer. Even if you have to pinch pennies with other parts of your life you should do so in exchange for the chance to quickly pay down your credit card debt.

Remember, your credit card company has no issue with you paying the minimum. In fact, they love when you do this. But you now know better. Pay as much as you can each month, and your credit card debt will be gone in no time at all.
