Credit Card Debt Management

Why do I need a Credit Card, anyway?

image-5-11708.jpgBefore you apply for your first credit card you are probably going to ask yourself this question: what am I going to use it for? After all, if you got by without a credit card for so long you may be able to do so well into the future. That being said, there are some ways that you can use a credit card to your advantage on a regular basis. Some people never apply for a credit card, and never think twice about this. Others have more than one card, and love every minute of it.

One of the best reasons to have a credit card is for big purchases. For instance, if you want to buy something for several thousand dollars it is often times better to use a credit card so you don’t have to tap into a lot or all of your cash at once. Additionally, although not encouraged, you can make a big purchase and then send payments each month until it is paid off. In other words, you don’t have to pay for the entire amount upfront as you would with cash.

You may also want a credit card if you are interested in earning rewards for every dollar you spend. Many credit cards have a rewards program that allows you to earn points, and in turn redeem them for everything from airline tickets to sports memorabilia and much more. These rewards programs go a long way in attracting many people who are deciding whether or not a credit card is right for them.

You don’t need a credit card. Many people live without these, and rely on cash to make every purchase. But if you want to take advantage of the benefits of carrying a credit card, getting your hands on one is not usually a difficult process.
