Credit Card Debt Management

Always Track your Credit Card Statements

image-4-11608.jpgIf you are going to use a credit card(s) you need to know how much you are spending and the rate at which you are paying this money back. If you do not take the time to track your credit card statements you could find yourself making a big mistake sooner rather than later. Believe it or not, many consumers use their credit card but have no idea what they owe and how much interest they are accumulating. The reason for this? They don’t track their credit card statements. And if they do they only look at the minimum payment due, and then send in that amount.

It is not as hard as you may think to track your statements and related debt. There are two ways to do this. First off, and most common, you can wait for your paper statement to arrive in the mail. Once you have your statement in hand it is time to look it over and determine your next move. Are you going to pay the balance in full? If not, how much interest will you be charged?

Your other option is to track your credit card spending online. Most credit card companies offer an online system that is similar to a paper statement. Your account will show purchases, finance charges, and payments that you make. The biggest advantage of an online system is that you can check on your status at anytime; you don’t have to wait for a paper statement to arrive in the mail.

It is important that you track your credit card statements. You can do this by waiting for a paper statement in the mail, or by using an online system. Either way, you should always know where you stand.
