Credit Cards and the Risk of carrying them
No matter who you are, there is a good chance that you have thought about applying for a credit card. In fact, you probably have at least one of these cards in your wallet right now. There is nothing wrong with carrying a credit card, or more than one, but you do need to remember that there is risk involved with doing so. If you are unaware of this, you may end up putting your financial life in a bad position. And this is not something that you want to do.
The number one risk of carrying credit cards is simple to understand: you have a lot of money at your fingertips. And guess what? There is nobody stopping you from using this credit recklessly. Believe it or not, irresponsible people can obtain a credit card just as easily as somebody who knows what they are doing with their money. Credit cards and an irresponsible mind set do not go well together. In fact, more times than not this combination ends up in a bad situation.
If you cannot control your spending you should not be carrying credit cards. It is very easy to use a credit card to make a purchase. But guess what? Paying this money back is far from easy. You can spend thousands of dollars in a matter of minutes. The question is: do you know how long it will take you to pay this money back? If you do not know the answer, you should avoid using your credit card for the purchase.
The risks of carrying a credit card are real. If you think that you are immune to these risks, you are wrong. Before you add more credit cards to your financial life, make sure that you are in a good financial position and that you can trust yourself and your spending habits.
