Small Purchases add up on your Credit Card

image-7-81408.jpgWhat type of credit card user are you? Do you use your card for emergencies only, or do you pull it out for small purchases here and there? Believe it or not, small purchases can add up over the course of a month. And if you do not have the money to pass off the balance when your statement arrives, you are going to be digging yourself into an even deeper hole. Simply put, any balance that you carry over is going to be hit with an interest charge. In turn, this means that all those small purchases have ended up costing you much more than you thought they would.

How can you avoid this problem? Well, there are two things that you can do.

1. Do not use your credit card for every purchase. Instead, only use this for emergencies or when you need to buy something that is expensive such as furniture, car repairs, etc. This will help to keep your credit card balance low, for the most part.

2. Pay off your credit card in full each month. Even if your small purchases have added up, you will want to do whatever it takes to pay off the balance in full. While not always easy, this is a goal that you should set for yourself. This can go a long way in helping you to save a lot on interest charges.

Getting yourself into credit card debt is not difficult. In fact, you can get into debt within a matter of minutes. But before you make this mistake, keep in mind that getting out of debt is a much longer process.

Small purchases can add up quite a bit. To avoid this problem with your credit cards, follow the two tips listed above.
